Hays-Porter students dance, dance, dance

Hays-Porter School third-graders got a chance to exercise their dance moves by participating in “Cincy Dances in Washington Park” on May 21, 2014.

The Cincinnati Ballet invited more than 1,200 third-graders from across the region to dance together in Washington Park in Over-the-Rhine. “Cincy Dances” is a fun-filled, enriching event with a focus on community connection and arts education.

Cincinnati Ballet representatives visited Hays-Porter School several times during the month of May to teach the third-graders an age-appropriate dance that incorporated ballet, jazz and hip-hop. On the day of the event, the students had a chance to perform the dance with other third-graders from around Greater Cincinnati.

Students also experienced performances by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Opera, the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati and local bands. Students were provided a T-shirt and lunch. The event was sponsored by ArtsWave and Interact for Health.
