FamiliesFORWARD shows programming at summit

About 50 people from across Ohio came to Hartwell School on Jan. 30, 2013, to view information from several Cincinnati Public Schools after-school programs.

Those who came to the event were part of the two-day 21st Century Community Learning Centers Summit at the Sharonville Convention Center, sponsored by the Ohio Department of Education. The visitors are involved in 21st Century programs funded by the federal government at schools throughout the state.

Community groups set up displays at Hartwell and brought in students to explain what goes on in their after-school programming. The event provided attendees an opportunity to glean ideas to take with them back to their schools.

Representatives from all five FamiliesFORWARD-affiliated schools—Bond Hill Academy, Carson School, Evanston Academy, Hays-Porter School and Withrow High School—showed some of their projects. FamiliesFORWARD staff members and students explained what they did to make the projects a success.
